Mailing lists are the most popular way to have interactive communication on the internet, and not surprisingly, the best way to meet and have conversations with other lesbians. This web site contains the most comprehensive information on lesbian mailing lists to date, including a description of each list's purpose and instructions for how to join. You can find lists on almost any conceivable topic, from SM to motorcycles to butch-femme relationships to living with disabilities.

D.Y.K.E. is an unusual web site, with heavy emphasis on the lesbian bar scene, both virtual and real. You can learn more about the fine art of cruising in the "Cruise Me Now" cafe, or leave a message on the virtual wall of the Ladies Lounge. The site also features links to the Oscar Wilde Society, Fan's Private Salon and the D.Y.K.E. News.

The Whistle Stop Cafe requires member registration, so I've never seen it in action, but it looks like a great way to meet lesbians online. You can get register right from the web page, which also features a nice set of lesbian links.

Match.com: your online matchmaker!

This is one of the hottest spots on the net, but also one of the most woman friendly. There are quite few lesbians signed up with Match.com, and the match-making software allows you to search by "woman seeking woman" and to look for friends and pen pals as well as potential romantic partners.
